Says flood victims are a living testimony, hugging BJP party’s brazen betrayal

Anantnag: Calling the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) a party of betrayals, National Conference working president Omar Abdullah on Wednesday dared the ruling party to ‘spell out’ even one promise they have kept.

While addressing a joint NC-Congress election rally in Anantnag, the former Chief Minister said, “Spell out even one of the promises that has been kept.”

Omar added that the 2014 flood victims are a living testimony of the broken promises made by the PDP. “PDP generated euphoria over compensation and flood relief but once coming into power they left the victims to fend for themselves, “the former CM said during the election rally.

He further added that instead of relief the number of bullets and pellets were increased by the ruling party.

“Instead of enhancing relief, the PDP found it more convenient to increase the number of pellets and bullets to target Kashmiris. What had happened to the much hyped battle of ideas, “ asked Omar.

The former CM said that the brazen betrayal of PDP was to join hands with the BJP as during the campaign they vigorously asked people to vote for them as they want to keep the right-wing party away from Kashmir.

“The brazen betrayal of PDP’s promise to keep away the BJP from Kashmir was joining them to form the government. Once the elections were over, PDP jumped all its demarcated lines and hugged the same party for an alliance, “Omar said.

The NC Working President also said that disallowing Friday prayers in South Kashmir for months together is a matter of deep concern. He added that PDP has further deepened the political instability in the state and added to the miseries of the people.

He appealed to the people that in order to get out this current situation, they should support JKPCC Chief G A Mir in the upcoming by-elections.

“The party (NC) will ensure the victory of G A Mir and it will be a victory of the oppressed, “ said Omar.
