Situations being created in valley under a plan to suppress economic growth, alleges KCCI
Srinagar: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Wednesday said that since the 2014 deluge, ‘situations’ and ‘uncalled political statements’ are being created ‘under a plan’ to suppress the economic growth of the state.
In a statement KCCI observed, “Ever since 2014 floods, situations are being created on one pretext or the other to disrupt the peace, particularly in the Valley, which result in the death, maiming and blinding of a large number of people of all age groups.”
The statement added, “Uncalled for political statements and ill-timed decisions taken by the government at the highest level and other constitutional bodies compound the already complex situation obtaining in the State.”
“KCC&I believes it is being done under a premeditated plan to suppress the economic growth of the State as a whole, “alleged the statement of the trade body.
The Chamber also maintained that such acts of ‘omission and commission’ are hurting important sectors of valley’s economy.
“The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry considers it its bounden duty to warn the powers that be that the above referred acts of omission and commission are continuously crippling the economic sectors of the Valley such tourism, handicrafts, transport, general trade, horticulture and not to speak of education and health sectors,” said the statement.
The Chamber members under the chairmanship of their President Mushtaq Ahmed Wani expressed grief and solidarity with the families of the recently killed civilians during by-polls in Budgam.
“We urge the government to act in a manner that safety and security of human life is ensured besides taking measures to help bring peace and stability in the Valley thereby leading to normal socio-economic activity,” the statement concluded.
