Forces shoot dead teenaged student in Arwani

Srinagar: The Indian armed forces shot dead a teenaged student in Kulgam district on Friday during clashes when an encounter was going on between suspected militants and armed forces.

Identified as Ahsan Mushtaq, a student, was hit by bullet in chest.

He was rushed to sub-district hospital Qaimoh where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Earlier, a 22-year-old youth was killed by forces when people tried to help suspected militants to escape an encounter site in Arwani area of Kulgam district.

Speaking to the FreePressKashmir over phone, Dr M S Darzi, the MS Kulgam district hospital, said the hospitals in Kulgam received two civilians dead in the day.

“The deceased aged between 16 and 28,” he added.

Dr Darzi informed that six people had fire arm injuries while two were hit by pellets of whom one was hit in eye.

He further said that one youth was hit by tear gas shell in his arm and all the injured were given treatment.
