Ex-Congressmen form ‘JK Bachao Front’, say Interlocutor must talk to militants & Pakistan

Srinagar: Several Congressmen Wednesday floated ‘Jammu Kashmir Bachao Front’ and said that interlocutor appointed by the Government of India ‘should talk to all stakeholders including Pakistan and militant leaders’.

Addressing a press conference here, former Congress minister, Abdul Gani Vakil said that dialogue process initiated by the GoI is a welcome step but only if it yields result.

“The initiative must yield result otherwise it will be tantamount to rubbing salt on wounds of people,” he said. “The interlocutor must talk to all the stakeholders including militants and Pakistan so that the stalemate over the JK’s nature would end,” he added.

Vakil was accompanied by former minister Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, former MLA Syed Muhammad Rafiq Shah, Advocate Syed Gowher and social activist Irfan Hafiz Lone.

He said that they have come up with a fight against evil designs of some politicians. “We will fight against evil designs of politicians who have ruined the state for their vested interests,” he said.

Vakil said that the dynasty rule should come to an end as they have been befooling the people of Kashmir from the past 70 years. “Jammu and Kashmir is in danger due to the politics played by the dynasty government so far. The state is heading towards devastation due to the politics played for their vested interests,” he said.

He said that National Investigation Agency (NIA) must check the assets of mainstream politicians as well. “The NIA must investigate the assets of mainstream politicians. They must investigate how they managed to own bunglows and other assets,” Vakil added.

It is pertinent to note here that the recommendations of the last interlocutors appointed in 2010 were scrapped.
