Srinagar: A teenager has been killed near the site of a gunfight in Shopian district after government forces opened fire to disperse the protesters. Another teenager has been injured.
The slain youth has been identified as 17 year old Shakir Ahmed Mir, a resident of Qalampora area.
News agency GNS reported that two teenage boys were injured after forces fired tear gas and pellets to chase away the protesters trying to disrupt the anti-militant operation.
Reports said that the injured were rushed to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Rajpora where one of them was declared dead on arrival.
“Shakir had received a bullet wound in his chest and as such succumbed,” Block Medical Officer PHC Javeed Ahmad Bhat, who operated upon the boy told GNS.
