164 braid chopping incidents occurred in the valley, 3 arrested, says Mehbooba

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday informed the legislative Assembly that 164 incidents of braid chopping occurred in the valley recently.

In a written reply to a clubbed question raised by MLAs Altaf Ahmad Wani, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, Abdul Majid Bhat (Larmi), the Minister incharge Home, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that 38 incidents occurred in Srinagar, 22 in Budgam, 6 in Ganderbal, 26 in Anantnag, 12 in Pulwama, 5 in Awantipora, 25 in Kulgam, 5 in Shopian, 9 in Baramulla, 10 in Batamaloo, 5 in Kupwara and 1 in Handwara.

The government also added that two persons were arrested, both residents of Bamroda Khag, Budgam, in case FIR No, 214/ 2017 of Police station Ganderbal. Besides a lady from Baramullah district was also arrested in case FOR No. 189/ 2017 of Police station Saddar, Srinagar. The challan in both the cases has been produced before court of law.

The government further added that incidents of braid chopping caused insecurity among the general masses in the state especially in valley for some time.

“All possible measures were taken to curb such incidents within shortest possible time. No braid chopping incident has been reported since 08.11.2017,” the government  said.
