CRPF constable killed in ongoing Karan Nagar gun fight

Srinagar: A constable of the CRPF has been killed in the ongoing gun fight in the Karan Nagar area of Srinagar.

Rajesh Yadav, PRO of the Force told Greater Kashmir that Mujahid Khan of 49 Bn, succumbed to his injuries at the site of the gun fight.

“In the wee hours, a sentry of 23 battalion stationed at Karanagar noticed a suspicious movement. He challenged the suspects. They ran into the nearby building behind National School,” said Yadav. Yadav said that the building where militants have taken shelter is a huge structure.

CRPF’s 23 battalion and Director General’s office are situated close to each other at Karan Nagar.

In the wee hours of Monday, at least two two militants entered an abandoned building near a CRPF camp in Karan Nagar and opened fire after forces launched an search operation.

The officials added that the sentry saw two militants carrying bags and AK 47 rifles approaching the camp of the 23 battalion of CRPF in Karan Nagar area around 4.30 am.

The gun fight is still going on.
