On Monday, a non-local man from Chennai died after a stone him in the head at Narbal, the police said.
The deceased, R Thirumani, 32, was travelling in a Tavera vehicle towards Gulmarg when a small group of youngsters threw stones at a few passing vehicles on Gulmarg-Narbal Road.
He was taken to SKIMS, Soura, where he succumbed to his injuries in the evening, a police official said. A girl, identified as Sabreena, was also injured in the incident.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti visited the hospital and met the family of the deceased and expressed solidarity with them.
In a tweet on Tuesday, the Chied Minister said:
Its truly heartbreaking when a family saves for years to realise their dream of visiting Kashmir & while they are here they face their worst nightmare. I have no words strong enough to condemn this tragic incident or even begin to condole the family. 1/2

In another tweet, Mehbooba reiterated that without a sustained and meaningful dialogue, Kashmir will be pushed deeper into the vortex of violence.
Without a sustained, meaningful dialogue & outreach, not just from the govt but from the entire country, J&K will get pushed deeper into this vortex of gloom. My deepest condolences to the deceased’s family & my prayers go out to the girl who was injured in the same incident. 2/2

The Chairman of the Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also condemned the incident and said that such hooliganism is against our ethos.
Deeply saddened by the news of death of a tourist due to stone pelting. Condemn such hooliganism and https://t.co/pL8iLlWKIL is totally against our ethos of treating tourists as respected guests and brings a bad name to the peoples movement
