Pakistan’s PM-in-waiting Imran Khan wants a balanced, trustworthy relationship with US
Iranian President invites Khan on a formal visit to his country
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, while talking to US acting Ambassador to Pakistan John F. Hoover, said that his party wants to build relationship with the United States based on trust and mutual respect.
The ambassador fecilitated him over his victory in the July 25 elections.
Imran Khan, who is all set to deliver the oath in mid-August, said Pakistan and the US had witnessed many ups and downs in their relationship, which were the outcome of trust deficit between the two countries.

“Our government will engage with the US to make this relationship more balanced and trustworthy. We count trade and economic relations with the US extremely important,” he said.
He stressed the idea of revitalisation of diplomatic ties between the two countries and transforming the relationship for the benefit of both Pakistan and the US.
According to PTI’s media cell, the US delegation and PTI chief discussed issues of mutual interest, including Pak-US relations, bilateral trade, and stability in Afghanistan.
“I am glad that people in the US have ultimately started acknowledging significance of political solution as conflict and use of force can add to the damages instead of breeding a sustainable solution to the crisis,” Khan stated.
He said stability in Afghanistan was in the larger interest of Pakistan, America and the region which could be achieved through viable political engagements.
Seperately on a phone call, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani congratulated Imran Khan on his victory and invited him for a formal visit to his country, which he accepted.

President Rouhani was quoted as saying,“Pakistan and Iran are not merely neighbouring countries but also bonded by religious and cultural values.”
Earlier, Imran Khan, the Prime Minister elect of Pakistan during his first public address after the elections has said that he has envisioned a ‘Medina-like Islamic Welfare State which will be sympathetic towards the weaker sections of the society.Khan, who is the chief of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, which has emerged as the single largest party of Pakistan, Khan shared his vision for the country and pledged to safeguard the interests of ordinary citizens.
