Pack of stray dogs maul at least 51 in Baramulla, locals say canines have endangered lives
Srinagar: A pack of stray dogs mauled at least 51 persons in Kantbagh and its adjacent areas of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday, triggering panic in the area.
Reports said that a pack roaming in the area attacked and injured 51 persons on Tuesday.
The injured were rushed to Baramulla district hospital where they were given the necessary medication.

Some of the victims claimed that the vaccine was not available at the hospital.
However, Medical superintendent Baramulla district hospital, Dr Masood said there is no shortage of vaccine and all the patients were provided the necessary medication.
Meanwhile, panicked locals appealed to the government to deal with the canines which they said had endangered their lives.

In October, KNS reports stated that unofficial estimates of stray dogs were numbered to be around 100,000.
According to experts, the reason behind the ferocity of the dogs was the high-protein food which is available regularly because of the dietary habits of residents of Kashmir, where mutton and chicken are a staple diet.
