Gunfight breaks out in Shopian village
A gunfight broke out between militants and armed forces in Baderhama Zawoora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.
According to the reports, a joint team of Army’s 23 Paras, SOG and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation in Badherma Zawoora area after receiving credible inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
A senior police official said that as soon as forces intensified search operation towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon forces which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight.
As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area. Intermittent firing was going on when the report was last filed.
