2 persons killed, 2 injured as vehicles ‘collide’ on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Pampore

Srinagar: Two persons were killed and at least two others were injured in a road accident after two vehicles collided with each other, near Galander area of Pampore, in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Official sources said that a swift car collided with a Tipper bearing registration number JK03F-8232, resulting in the death of the two persons and injuries to two others.

One of the two persons who lost their lives is being identified as Raja Ahmad, 20, son of Jameel Ahmad, a resident of Kansar Reasi Jummu and details of the other one was not known immediately.

The two more people who received injuries are being identified as Rafakat Ahmad Chachi, 25, son of Bashir Ahmed Chachi of Dangerpora Noorpora Awantipora and Mashooq Ahmad Khanday, son of Mohammad Ramzan of Tazipora Mohammad Pora Kulgam.

Both the injured were soon evacuated to hospital for the treatment.

During the accident, the traffic movement on Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only surface link connecting the Kashmir valley with the outside world, was also suspended.

The movement was resumed after vehicles from the spot were removed by the authorities.
