Oxford Presentation School Anantnag sealed for ‘violating’ Govt orders, fined 1 lakh

Anantnag: Taking action for “violating” the government norms, District Magistrate Anantnag on Saturday sealed and penalized the Oxford Presentation High School K P Road Anantnag and reiterated to the other institutions of the district to not deviate from the government orders.

In an order copy, accessed by Free Press Kashmir, Chief Education Officer, Anantnag vide letter number CEO/A/IMW, 25064-67, dated 28, 11, 2020, stated that “acting on a complaint, today a team led by him inspected Oxford Presentation High School K P Road Anantnag and it was found that normal class work was going on in the school without observing any SOPs of COVID, especially in pre-primary classes in violation of government orders.”

It said the act of school administration may have serious ramifications, as COVID infection has not been controlled and the government has strictly directed that normal school work shall not be resumed as the young kids are one of the vulnerable groups.

In order to safeguard the precious lives and as a prophylactic measure, it is necessary to close the said establishment to prevent from the spread of disease, the order copy mentioned.

“Now, therefore, in view of the above, I K K Sidha (KAS) District Magistrate Anantnag, in the exercise of powers vested to me under section 44 of the CrPC, section 34 of National Disaster Management Act 1897 do hereby order the closure of aforesaid premises till further orders besides imposition of a penalty to the tune of rupees 1 lack for violating guidelines of the government,” it said.

The District Magistrate also ordered the Tehsildar Anantnag and the concerned SHO to close the premises immediately and report compliance.
