NIA carries out searches in Srinagar

Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out searches at a number of places, including the offices of Human Rights Activist in Srinagar, reportedly in connection with the “militant funding” probe.

NIA in their repeated press statements has claimed that various entities were receiving money from undisclosed donors which were then being used to fund “militant activities”.

Reports said that the raids were conducted in Amira Kadal Lal Chowk and Sonwara are of the city.

Last year also NIA conducted raids at the residences and offices of various persons including human rights activists in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir.

As per reports, during today’s raids, the agency was assisted by the local police and paramilitary personnel that searched the offices thoroughly. Raids were going on till the filing of this report. (KNT)
