Armed forces personnel, militant killed in Kulgam military Op: Police

‘Two civilian, 3 armed forces personnel injured in ongoing operation’

Kulgam: An armed forces personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operation Group (SOG) wing and a Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militants were killed in a military operation in Pariwan village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday, police said.

In the ongoing military operation, two civilians and three armed forces personnel have also received injuries.

As per the police, the operation was launched this evening after armed forces received input about the presence of militants in the area.

As forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them triggering the operation, it said.

“In the operation, SoG personnel of JK police and a Jaish militant were killed,” Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said.

He said that two civilians and three armed forces personnel were also wounded in the operation and were subsequently shifted to a medical facility for treatment.
