Uri: Armed forces on Thursday arrested a man from Bangladesh in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district for traveling to India without any passport.

Sources said that the Indian army handed over a Bangladeshi national to Jammu and Kashmir Police after detaining him in border area Uri.

Uri is very close to the LoC (Line of Control), the disputed border between India and Pakistan.

They said that during the investigation, it surfaced that the Bangladeshi citizen had travelled to India and then to Kashmir without any passport.

A police official while confirming the arrest of this foreign national identified him as Rabi-ul-Islam, son of Muhammad Saleem.

He said a fake Adhar Card has been recovered from his possession. He has been booked under Foreign Registration Act.

“An FIR vide number 23/2022 under section 14-A of Foreign Registration Act has been registered at police station Uri and further investigation is underway,” the official said. (KNT)
