Srinagar: The administration has said that Heads of Institutions (HOIs) of Higher Secondary Schools have taken the publication of school magazines on the ride.

Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) in a communiqué has said that it has been observed that in most cases, the Heads of Institutions (HOIs) of Higher Secondary Schools do not take the publication of school magazines seriously.

“The general impression gleaned is that, as if, the publication is a run-of-the-mill activity carried out to spend money only,” it reads.

It further states that education is an all-round transformational enterprise, so the publication of school magazine activity has to be an institutional contribution towards it, albeit in a small but substantial measure, to help train and produce future writers among the young students.

“In view of the perspective, the publication of annual school magazines in accordance with recently issued guidelines is now mandatory for the Higher Secondary Schools,” it reads.

The DSEK has said that the publication performance shall be reflected in the APR of the Head’, of institutions (HOI’s) henceforth.

“Cultural Education Wing, DSEK shall maintain a record of the published magazines of Kashmir Division and shall submit the list to the undersigned by March-31 of every year without fail,” it reads.
