Non-local arrested for kidnapping minor in Budgam, says police

Budgam: Jammu and Kashmir police arrested a non-local woman allegedly for kidnapping a minor in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

“Police Station Khag received information that one woman was begging in village Dalwash, Khag kidnapped a child age about 04 years namely (name withheld)”, reads a statement issued to GNS.

The woman, the statement reads, concealed the child under her scarf and some local women upon developing suspicion, informed police Station Khag.

“A police party of police station Khag rushed to the spot along with women police personnel and recovered the kidnapped boy from the possession of a non-local woman and arrested her on spot”, reads the statement.

“The accused lady has been subsequently identified as Chidi Devi wife of Khana Ram resident of Dhannasar, Hanumangarh Rajasthan.”

“A case FIR number 17/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Khag and an investigation was taken up”, reads the statement.

“The boy has been handed over to his parents after medico-legal formalities”, reads the statement further.
