Those who stood against us have joined us to foil the advent of RSS: Omar

Srinagar: Intensifying National Conference’s poll campaign, the party President Farooq Abdullah on Saturday said that the upcoming polls will be the ‘Waterloo moment for the BJP-PDP alliance.

Abdullah, while addressing a rally in Budgam, said that the victory of the NC-Congress alliance should be massive in order to halt the progress of the fascist forces which have gained foothold in the valley through PDP.

“The outcome of the two parliamentary seats from Kashmir should therefore send a strong message to the fascist forces, who are overtly and covertly trying to establish foothold through PDP, “said Abdullah.

He added, “These are crucial elections and will prove to be the Waterloo of the opportunistic alliance headed by the PDP.”

Abdullah urged that in order to stop the advent the march of communal forces in the state, victory of NC-Congress is imperative.

“Minorities in India are living under perpetual fear and uncertainty and if the divisive forces are not stopped, the day is not far when the situation in the Valley will become grimmer. Kashmir has undergone a traumatic phase and an onerous responsibility is cast upon all of us to reclaim our dignity and honour, “said Abdullah.

Referring to anti-BJP campaign of the PDP in 2014, Abdullah said that PDP, for loaves of power joined the same force they campaigned against.

“For loaves of power, the PDP betrayed the mandate by hobnobbing with the RSS after seeking votes against them in the first instance, “said Abdullah.

He added that the same people will show the ‘anti-Kashmir’ forces their right place.

“The people of Kashmir got swayed by the falsehood and drama enacted by the PDP for power but I am confident that the same people will show anti-Kashmiri forces their right place, “said Abdullah.

Also present was Working President of NC Omar Abdullah who said that the fascist danger hovering over the state is so alarming that people who stood against NC once are standing with them now.

“Leaders like Tariq Hamid Karra and Aga Mohsin, who stood against National Conference in 2014 elections are now sharing the same platform with the party to foil the advance of RSS due to PDP’s courtesy, “said Omar.

The former CM also said that apart from the danger of communalism, on the governance front too, PDP has nothing to show as an achievement. He added that their only achievement is barring people from offering Friday prayers.

“What has happened to PDP’s lofty slogans about return of power projects and repealing of Armed Forces Special Powers Act. The insensitive dispensation does not have a single achievement to take credit for, “said Omar.

He further added, “The only ‘achievement’ the PDP can brag about is that the people were deprived of offering prayers in Jamia Masjid consecutively for 18 Fridays. This did not happen even during the autocratic rule in the state.
