Police book two drug peddlers under Public Safety Act, arrest two others in Kulgam

Srinagar: J&K Police have booked two drug peddlers under Public Safety Act (PSA) in Handwara while two others were arrested in Kulgam district.

J&K police spokesperson in a statement said that two notorious drug peddlers were booked under PSA in Kupwara district while two others held with poppy straw in Kulgam.

Continuing its drive against the drug menace, police in Handwara today booked two notorious drug peddlers involved in many cases.

The JKP spokesperson identified these drugs peddlers as Ashiq Hussain Ganai, son of Khizar Mohammad Ganai, a resident of Khanbal Handwara and Ishfaq Ahmed Mir, son of Late Abdul Rashid Mir, a resident of Badra Payain Kralkund.

The spokesperson said that two people were arrested with poppy straw in Qazigund area of Kulgam district.

A police party of police post Jawahar Tunnel, Qazigund during Naka checking intercepted a Tavera vehicle bearing registered number JK03A-4159 at Command Post North Portal.

“During checking police recovered 20 Kilograms of Poppy straw from the possession of two people boarding the vehicle. They were identified as Kaisar Singh, son of Kashmir Singh, resident of Kulgrah, Shaheed Bagaht Singh Nagar Punjab and Jangar Singh, son of Payra Singh, resident of Kundanpora Balachour, Punjab. Both of them have been taken into custody and further investigation has been taken up,” the police statement said.

Meanwhile, the police spokesperson said that two including a minor boy died in two separate road accidents in Kupwara and Budgam.

A Nano car bearing registration number HP32B-2176 hit and injured a pedestrian identified as Taja Begum, wife of Abdul Gani Sheikh, a resident of Dardpora, Kralpora at Dardpora in District Kupwara.

The injured was shifted to Srinagar Hospital was she succumbed to her injuries.

A tipper bearing registration number JK04A-9937 hit a 10 years old boy identified as Yawar Yaseen, son of Mohammad Yaseen Raina, a resident of Buzgoo Chadoora in Budgam District, resulting in his on spot death.

Holy Month Of Ramzan: Police Help Campaign Continues

As a part of special campaign launched by JK Police in collaboration with Uday Foundation during the month of Ramzan to help the needy people, today helping hand was extended to such people in Kulgam and Anantnag districts of Kashmir valley.

The campaign continues on directions of DGP J&K S P Vaid and IGP Kashmir Munir Ahmad Khan.

Clothing items were distributed among the people belonging to weaker sections of the society and also among the specially abled persons in Anantnag and Kulgam District.

In Anantnag, these items were distributed among 60 specially abled students of an educational institute by Additional S P Anantnag Mukesh Kumar at Bijbehara.

Meanwhile, SSP Kulgam Shridhar Patil distributed clothing items among 130 families including children and women belonging from far-flung areas during a function at Police Lines Kulgam.

Besides, these items were also distributed at all the Police Stations of the district Kulgam to hundreds of the people belonging to weaker sections of the society, the police statement added.
