Srinagar: In a suspected militant attack, at least nine para-military CRPF troopers were injured on Tuesday evening in Pulwama district.

CRPF spokesperson, Rajesh Yadav, told the FreePressKashmir that a grenade was hurled at the company location of F1 180 battalion of CRPF at Laryar in Tral town of the district.

Tral area is situated in lush green forests in south of Srinagar at a distance of almost thirty five kilometers.

“Nine of our jawans were injured in the attack three of whom are serious,” Yadav said. The grenade was hurled around 06:05 pm.

He said that the injured CRPF personnel have been shifted to Tral sub-district hospital.

It is second grenade attack on CRPF in less than twenty four hours in Tral.

Last late night, two CRPF personnel were injured when suspected militants hurled grenade at a CRPF camp in main town Tral.

“The area has been cordoned off and search operation launched,” Yadav added.

For his comments and details about the incident, J&K Police spokesperson did not respond to calls from the FreePressKashmir.

A police official said that the reinforcements have been rushed to the area. “SP and Dy SP have lead teams who are monitoring the situation,” he informed.
