Srinagar: Almost all the opposition party lawmakers including independent lawmaker, Er Rasheed are holding a sit-in protest outside the J&K Legislature complex.

The governor N N Vohra has called a special session of J&K Legislative Assembly to discuss the extension of central Goods and Services Tax (GST) to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

However, the PDP-BJP government is facing a stiff resistance from National Conference and Congress while the joint resistance leadership termed the law as a plan “to cripple economy of J&K”.

As the session starts around 11 am, the lawmakers from NC, Congress joined by independent lawmaker, Er Rasheed sat on a protest demonstration outside the assembly.

They raised “Nagpur sarkaar, hai hai; Gen Rawat jawab do, khoon ka jawab do” slogans.

The lawmakers slammed the Mehbooba Mufti led PDP-BJP government for its failure to maintain law and order in Kashmir as three civilians have been shot dead since last Thursday evening.
