Srinagar: The Indian army on Thursday claimed that a suspected militant was killed in Keran sector of Kupwara district.

Kupwara is located in north of Srinagar – summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Infiltration bid was foiled in Keran sector,” said Srinagar based defence spokesperson, Colonel Rajesh Kalia.

“On militant has been killed so, far from whom one weapon was recovered,” Col Kalia added.

Keran is located along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. Kishenganag river – river Neelum in Pakistan administered Kashmir – divided this part of Kashmir along LoC.

Col Kalia did not inform whether the operation ended or not.

LoC in J&K has witnessed massive cross-border firing in last few months. Many civilians have been killed while some soldiers of the Indo-Pak armies posted along the LoC – de facto border – too have lost their lives.
