Pakistan welcomes Ayatollah Khamenei’s statement on Kashmir

Srinagar: The Pakistan Foreign Office (FO) on Thursday said that Pakistan welcomes the Iranian Supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s statement on Kashmir.

On the Islamic holy day of Eid-al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramzan, the month of fasting, Iran’s Imam Khamenei, said that people should come out openly in showing their support for Yemen, Bahrain and Kashmir, as per the official website.

Khamenei asked the people to “Fire at will”. Explaining the term he said that it means that throughout the country (Iran), those who possess abilities to think and create, should do the work themselves. They should identify the cultural shortcomings.

“Pakistan welcomes Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s statement on Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK),” Nafees Zakaria, Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday.

Ayatollah Khamenei on Monday had urged his country’s judiciary to extend support to the “oppressed” Muslims of Kashmir.

He asked the country’s judiciary to pursue issue like US sanctions, Muslims of Myanmmar and Kashmir legally and take an official position.

The leader while addressing a gathering at Tehran’s Great Musalla (Prayer Ground) which was also attended by Iranian President and top military commanders, besides diplomats from Muslim nations, said that the Islamic world must explicitly support the oppressed people of Yemeni, Bahrain and Kashmir.

The spokesperson added that Pakistan welcomes Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s recent statement, in which he urged the Muslims worldwide to support the oppressed people of Kashmir.
