‘Government fulfills specifications for AIIMS establishment in JK’

‘Main construction to commence once boundary walls are raised’

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday said it has finalized the water, electricity supplies and road connectivity towards the site where AIIMS is to be established in Kashmir Valley and that the construction on the project will commence soon after the specifications are met.

“The chief secretary is monitoring the progress of the work going on at the site and the foremost priority is the construction of the boundary wall around as per the laid down norms of the CPWD,” MoS Health Asiea Naqash said.

The minister added that soon after the construction of the boundary wall is completed, work on the main site will commence.

“We are rigorously monitoring the construction at both the sites of Jammu as well as in Kashmir Valley and specifications for the establishment of AIIMS are being fulfilled from our end. The government has established the road connectivity and water and electricity supplies to the sites,” Asiea said.

The state government had on May 27, 2016 received approval from the government of India for construction of the two AIIMS like institutes for J&K.

Land measuring 1500 kanals stands transferred to State Health and Medical Education Department and the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), is the executing agency for the project.
