Students suffer at Headless Degree College Tangdhar, staff says no one to sign salary bills
Delayed construction has lead to operation from temporary sheds
Karnah: Government Degree College Tangdhar is without a principal for the last one and half month, which has adversely affected the academic and administrative functioning of the college.
Upgraded in the year 2008, the educational institution continues to function in the temporary fabricated sheds as the constructive work of the college building has seen little or no progress.
About 800 students are enrolled in the college. With poor infrastructure, the library too is run by local fund employer and the post of librarian lies vacant.
The principal G N Palla was transferred in October this year and ever since the college is functioning without a head.
The staff members also suffer in the absence of the principal. The salary of the staff has not been released as no one is authorized to sign the bills.
“We have appealed to the higher ups in government to appoint a principal in this college so that they can get salaries, prepare bills and make day to day decisions,” a staff member said.
