Drug peddler arrested in Srinagar, 8kg charas recovered, more arrests expected

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested a drug peddler and recovered about eight kilograms of charas from his possession in Qamarwari area of Srinagar.

According to district police Srinagar, eight kilograms of charas were recovered from possession of Mohammad Shafi Chopan of Devar Lolab, when his taxi was interrupted in Qamarwari area by the nakka party.

A case FIR number 297/17 under section 8/20 NDPS has  been registered and further investigation of the case is in progress. More arrests and recoveries are expected.

District Police Srinagar has appealed the local residents to come forward and help the police to eradicate this menace from the society and also appealed the parents of addicted youth to come forward without being affected by any social stigma to avail the free facilities of drug de-addiction center created by J&K Police at PCR, Kashmir.
