Watch: ‘In the name of DOG’, embarrassing slip of tongue at Tassaduq Mufti’s swearing in ceremony

Posted on

In an embarrassing situation, Tassaduq Mufti in the swearing in ceremony, who was among two PDP legislators sworn in as cabinet ministers into the Council of Ministers, headed by his elder sister and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, had a slip of tongue.

While taking the oath delivered by N N Vohra in the lawns of Raj Bhavan, Tassaduq Mufti pronounced God as Dog.

“In the name of God,” Vohra said, “In the name of Dog,” repeated Mufti.

Tassaduq was nominated to the State Legislative Council by Governor N N Vohra last week against a vacancy caused by the resignation of Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh.

This was done by the Governor in exercise of powers vested in him under sub section (6) of Section 50 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir.

On 15 August 2016, a police inquiry was ordered after the Indian flag fell to the ground when chief minister Mehbooba Mufti tried to unfurl it in a stadium in Srinagar on Indian Independence Day.

Instead of unfurling, the flag fell as soon as the Chief Minister pulled at the rope.

Police officials rushed to the stage to fix it back up.
