UN resolution seminar called by Geelani curbed, many activists detained

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government has disallowed senior resistance leader Syed Ali Geelani to hold a seminar on resolutions passed by United Nations (UN) on Jammu and Kashmir.

Heavy deployment of armed forces was made outside Hyderpora residence of Geelani on Thursday morning disallowing people from entering the venue.

Talking to FreePressKashmir a Hurriyat activist said, “Many Hurriyat leaders and activists including Imtyaz Hyder, Mohammad Yaseen Ataaiy have been detained by the government”.

He further added, “The peaceful seminar disallowed by the government was to be held at the Hyderpora residence of Geelani, and was to deliberate over 18 resolutions passed in United Nations over J&K dispute.”

Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and JKLF chairmanYasin Malik were also detained after invited by Geelani to attend the seminar today.
