Drug peddler arrested in Bandipora, 1 kilogram of charas recovered

Srinagar: Continuing its drive against the drug menace, on the directions of SSP Bandipora Shri Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, police party headed by SDPO Sumbal Shri Sheikh Tahir Amin and accompanied by SHO Police Station Hajin Shri Saqib Ghani and SI Muneeb Ul Islam laid a naka at Hajin and during checking recovered one kilogram of Charas powder from the possession of Manzoor Ahmad Dar alias Waghay son of Mohammad Maqbool Dar resident of Shahgund Hajin.

In this connection Case FIR No. 01/2018 under section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Hajin and investigation was taken up.

Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested a drug peddler and recovered about eight kilograms of charas from his possession in Qamarwari area of Srinagar.

The arrest comes as part of an ongoing drive against drug abuse in Kashmir.

Earlier, eight kilograms of charas were recovered from possession of Mohammad Shafi Chopan of Devar Lolab, when his taxi was interrupted in Qamarwari area by the Police.

A case FIR number 297/17 under section 8/20 NDPS was registered and further investigation of the case is in progress.

More arrests and recoveries are expected.
