Our son was not affiliated with the BJP, says the family of slain Sopore youth
Srinagar: After BJP’s claim that the slain Sopore youth Arif Ahmed Sofi was affiliated with the party, family of Arif has called the claim as baseless and demanded an investigation into the killing.
Arif Ahmed Sofi , son of Muhammad Maqbool Sofi, was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Sopore outskirts on Wednesday evening.
BJP issued a statement, condemning the youth’s killing with a claim that he was an active member of the party.
Arif’s brother in a statement has said that he was innocent and was not affiliated with any political party. “This is propaganda to defame the image of our slain brother,” he told Kashmir Life.
He further added, “We condemn such baseless statements by BJP. Our father has been the Chairman J&K Peoples League. How can we join hands with an anti-movement party? It is baseless news.”
Arif’s father Mohammad Maqbool Sofi is a former chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League.
