The minor girl was kidnapped and was kept in a cowshed for seven days by her abductors who allegedly raped and murdered her later. Following an uproar in the assembly the government suspended the SHO and handed over the investigation of the case to the Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
A magisterial probe has been also ordered by the government to identify the culprits and punish them. So far the government has not claimed any breakthrough in the investigation conducted by Crime Branch and a judicial magistrate separately.
