Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLC, Khursheed Aalam said that there is no ration scarcity in Jammu and Kashmir from last three years.

However, he asked the state government to make Sugar and flour also available for the people of the state.

Aalam said that from last three years, adequate ration is available across the state.

“The government of India has stopped providing Sugar and flour to the JK but it is obligatory on part of the government to make these two things also available for the well being of people,” he said, adding that there is misconception about Kashmiris that ration is the only food that people of Kashmir consume but they (Kashmiris) also consume other things as well.”

“I have raised this issue with the concerned Minister and he has assured me that the matter will be taken into the consideration,” Aalam told KNS, adding that sugar and flour should be available on no profit no loss rates.

Aalam also said that the skyrocket rates in the market of such things are unaffordable for the people of Kashmir.

He further said that the availability of ration at every depot must be appreciated by one and all. “The legislators in the assembly while raising issues over CAPD in the house also admitted that the ration is available at every depot,” he said.

Asked about recommendations of legislators regarding ration depots, he said, “The ration depots should be provided wherever is required but such things should not be politicized.”
