Modi in Palestine: ‘A historic visit which will lead to stronger bilateral cooperation’
New Delhi: Narendra Modi, after landing in Palestine tweeted that the visit is a ‘historic one’ which will lead to strong bilateral ties.
Modi, who is the first Indian PM to set foot on Palestinian soil, will spend around three hours in the territory. His short but symbolic visit has been described as ‘significant’ by the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Modi had skipped Palestine when he had visited Israel in July last year to signal his government’s decision to treat New Delhi’s relations with the two countries as “mutually independent and exclusive”.In Ramallah that serves as the de facto capital of Palestine, PM Modi headed straight to the memorial of former President Yasser Arafat where he laid a wreath. He also took a tour of the Yasser Arafat Museum.
A foreign ministry official has told NDTV that Modi is expected to announce setting up of a super-specialty hospital in Ramallah.
