Srinagar: In the wee hours of Thursday, a Lashkar militant was killed in an gun fight in Hajin area of the Bandipora disttrict, police said.
In a tweet, the Director General of Police said that the Lashkar militant could have been a Fidayeen.

According to the police, on a specific information Army’s 13 RR, Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched cordon and search operation at Sukur Din Mohlla Hajin early this morning. As the cordon was tightened, militants opened fire and one militant was killed in the gun fight.
Arms and ammunition, including AK 47 rifles, and other incriminating materials were recovered from the encounter site.
The cordon has been called off.
According to Greater Kashmir, massive clashes erupted after the encounter.
