Contractors in Kashmir call off strike after Finance Minister’s intervention

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Central Contractor’s Coordination committee (JKCCCC) Friday called off their strike after assurances given by Finance Minister that government has decided to release the money to clear their pending bills.

Earlier, Police arrested dozens of protesting members of JKCCCC, here in Chief Engineering Complex Raj Bagh to foil their ‘Lock Down’ program.

The protesting contractors belonging to different departments including Estates, PHE, I&FC and R&B were detained at police station Raj Bagh.

Later in the day, according to General Secretary, JKCCCC, Farooq Ahmed Dar they called off strike after Finance Minister informed them their money has been released to clear their liabilities.

“Finance Minister Syed Altaf Bukhari asked us to meet him at SKICC at 11 am on Saturday morning. He informed us that our grievances have been addressed,” Dar said.
