The Kathua rape and murder is a ‘part of a sinister political game to defame Hindus’, said Union minister and BJP leader  Giriraj Singh.

Singh, who is known for his controversial statements, especially against the minorities, made these remarks during a  function in Bihar’s Nawada which is his parliamentary constituency.

“A conspiracy has been hatched to defame Hindus using the Kathua case. Some people with vested political interests are conspiring to divide the country. Now a fresh attempt is being made to defame Hindus through the Kathua case,” Singh said.

However, in the same breathe, Singh also condemned the rape and murder of a minor in Kathua and demanded stern action against the guilty.

“But instead of arresting the real culprits, Hindus are being defamed,” the report quoted Singh as having said.

Recently, the Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh also said that the ‘real culprits should be caught and brought to justice.

According to a report in the Kashmir Monitor , Singh said, “Now the case is with the court and government will act on the directions of the court. A thorough investigation should be done and the actual culprits should be found and pronounced guilty. Action will be definitely taken.”

In a tweet, former chief minister Omar Abdullah accused Singh of ‘playing politics and inciting trouble.’
