Kathua incident is a ‘Choti si Baat’, says Kavinder Gupta hours after taking oath as JK’s Deputy CM

Hours after taking oath as the Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Kavinder Gupta has said that the brutal rape and murder of a minor in Kathua was a ‘Choti si baat’ (small incident).

“Rasana is a chhoti si baat (Its a small incident)… We have to think this should never happen again and the child gets justice. There are many challenges like this facing the government. We should not give Rasana so much bhaav (importance),” Gupta said.

As a speaker also, Gupta had given a number of shocking statements.

After taking over as the speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Gupta had said that he is a ‘proud RSS man.’

Gupta stirred a major controversy in February after he claimed that the attack on the army camp at Sunjawan in Jammu took place as there are Rohingya refugees present in the area.

“The incident took place due to presence of Rohingyas in the area,” Gupta said in House. The remarks drew sharp reaction from the opposition, who accused him of targeting a particular community.

Amid reports, that former Deputy CM Nirmal Singh was replaced after he supported Mehbooba Mufti in the Kathua rape and murder case, BJP National Secretary Ram Madhav said that the reshuffle had nothing to do with the Kathua incident.
