Shopian Gunfight aftermath: Injured 17-year old boy succumbs at SMHS hospital

The 17-year old boy, identified as Asif Ahmad Mir who was critically injured during clashes which erupted near the gunfight site in Shopian, succumbed to his injuries at the SMHS Hospital in Srinagar on Sunday.

He was a resident of the Rahomo village of Pulwama district.  A doctor confirmed the death and said that he had firearm injury in the head.

In the gunfight, five militants including top Hizb commander Sadam Padder and KU assistant professor were killed. At least a dozen protesters have been injured during clashes near the encounter site.

The professor, Mohammad Rafi Bhat, had gone missing on Friday which triggered protests in the University of Kashmir. In the wake of his killing, the university has suspended class work for two days.

Padder, the top Hizb commander who is among the slain, was the associate of slain commander Burhan Wani.
