Police asks CRPF to explain what vehicle was doing in Nowhatta when there was ‘no deployment’

Srinagar: After registering a case of rash and negligent driving, Police have now asked Para-military CRPF to file details on why paramilitary vehicle was moving in non-deployment area.

Kaisar Ahmed Bhat was mowed down by a speedy CRPF vehicle on June 1 after the Friday congregational prayers when protesting youth pelted stones on it.

A police official wishing anonymity said that they have written to CRPF asking them to explain that how come a lone CRPF vehicle passed through the volatile area when there was no deployment.

“We don’t find any truth in the argument floated by CRPF that the vehicle was coming towards Police Station Nowhatta,” he said.

Spokesperson CRPF, Sanjay Sharma said that the case registered against the vehicle driver is baseless and has no footing. He added that Police may have written to top CRPF officials seeking explanation about the presence of vehicle in the area.

“I don’t know anything about it,” Sharma said.
