Anantnag gunfight: Two militants killed, dozens injured in clashes

Srinagar: In the ongoing gunfight in Anantnag’s Srigufwara area, two militants have been killed.

An official told Greater Kashmir that the bodies of the slain militants are lying at the gunfight site and the exchange of fire still on.

Earlier, a civilian and a policeman were killed and a woman, two army men were injured during the gunfight.

the civilian identified as Muhammad Yousuf Rather is the owner of the house where militants were hiding. The woman injured, identified as Hafeeza is his wife. Both were taken to the sub-district hospital of Bijbehara however Rather was declared brought dead. Hafeeza has been shifted to SKIMS for treatment.

Two army men and a cop of Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police were injured in the firefight. The injured were rushed to a hospital where the cop succumbed.

Meanwhile, massive clashes have erupted near the site of the gunfight and in the adjoining areas. According to reports, nearly twenty civilians were injured in clashes that erupted soon after the gunfight began. They have been shifted to several hospitals in the district for treatment.
