Rajnath-Doval’s visit a ‘multi-purpose’ exercise: Officials

Srinagar: Home Minister of India, Rajnath Singh who is on two-day visit to Kashmir along with National Security Adviser (NSA) of India, Ajit Doval ‘discussed various issues including security management, implementation of development programmes and positive engagement of the youth in the state’ with Governor N.N Vohra on Wednesday night at Raj Bhawan, AIR reported.

The meeting was held in the presence of NSA Ajit Doval, Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba and top officials from Army, Police, armed forces and intelligence agencies.

Rajnath Singh and Ajit Doval had arrived earlier on a two-day visit to the valley to find “a permanent solution” to the Kashmir problem and to “speak to anyone”. Soon after the duo landed in Kashmir, they were informed about the ongoing security status along with cross-border and LoC situation and preparedness of the forces.

Singh had claimed that he had personally asked the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to ignore cases against ‘first-time stone pelters.’

“Kashmir is, was and will be ours always. We want a permanent solution to the Kashmir problem and we are open to speak to anyone,” a report in News18 quoted Singh as saying. “Government interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma was accommodating and moving forward in the direction to resolving issues.” .
