Srinagar: Days after a harassment case involving a Sikh girl in Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) made it to headlines, a group of Sikh and Muslim protesters has now demanded that the culprits in this case should get booked under Arms Act and Attempt to Murder case.

The group rallying for the justice in this case has also demanded an immediate suspension of Vice Chancellor, IUST.

The demand has been reiterated after many Sikh youth along with local Muslims from Tral participated in the protest and raised slogans in favour of Sikh girl on Sunday.

“Such acts can’t be tolerated at any cost,” the head of Sewadar Gurmat Taksal (IGS), Tral said. “Administration should take immediate action to punish attackers. They should be exposed and pushed behind bars. We should be vigil in this and shouldn’t make their malicious plan successful.”

Police and administration has assured stern action and justice to the victim.

Meanwhile, a local Sikh community has expressed its gratitude to all of those “dozens member of Muslim community for participating in the protest”.

Notably, the victim girl studying in IUST was allegedly harassed inside the campus by some students.

“We all demand justice for our sister,” the Muslim protesters said. “Such incidents have no place in Kashmir. The society needs to expose such type of people who are trying to create communal atmosphere in Kashmir.”

Meanwhile, IUST has refuted the allegations regarding the “harassment” of a Sikh student allegedly by her classmates.
