A senior police official said two bodies of the militants have been recovered from the site of a gunfight in Mehmaan Mohalla of Anantnag town. Their identity is being established.

“Firing has stopped. A search operation is on,” said the official.

Police said that earlier,  two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were trapped in the gunfight, following which, a search and cordon operation was launched after receiving inputs.

“As the forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight,” he said.
