Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chief, Amit Shah on Wednesday dropped the National flag of India, during the flag hoisting ceremony for the 72nd Independence Day celebration at the party Head Quarter in New Delhi.

While pulling the rope, a mistake resulted in the flag being dropped to the ground, which Shah immediately rectified.

The clip that was being aired on the state Television Doordarshan has gone viral on social media.

On facebook too, the video has been shared thousands of times.

“Pin drop silence by DD News anchor/Commentator when Amit Shah dropped the National Flag while hoisting in BJP HQ. Oops I was Wrong. Someone in the Background uttered **Tcha Tcha Tcha Disaster**”, wrote one facebook page known for scathing criticism of the BJP.

Opposition party took a dig at Amit Shah regarding this incident and tweeted, “How will someone handle the country, who can’t even handle the national flag properly?”

In 2016, in a deeply embarrassing moment, the then Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had dropped the Indian  national tricolor, which fell off the post as she hoisted it at Bakshi stadium.

Mehbooba, who was hoisting the national flag as Chief Minister for the first time, pulled the string attached to the post only to see the tricolor fall from the post and land on the ground.

Amid the embarrassing situation, two personnel from the security detail of the Chief Minister held the flag in their hands till Mehbooba gave the ceremonial salute to the flag.
