There was no hurry to replace @spvaid. He should have been changed only when a permanent arrangement had been worked out. @JmuKmrPolice has enough problems without having to deal with confusion of leadership.

He also said that the temporary arrangement was ‘not good’ and that the current DGP wouldn’t know ‘if he’s going to stay’.

Meanwhile, outgoing DGP Shesh Paul Vaid said he was thankful for the opportunity to have served.

This comes after reports came in that the government of Jammu and Kashmir shifted Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Shesh Paul Vaid to the post of transport commissioner in its headquarters in Jammu on Thursday and placed Dilbag Singh, a 1987 batch Indian Police Service officer as the new DGP.

A Home department order issued disposed Vaid’s services to the general administration department for further posting as the transport commissioner.

Vaid had been appointed as the Director General by the previous coalition of the PDP-BJP government and was an IPS officer of 1986 batch.

The order, issued late in the evening stated: Dilbag Singh, the director general of Prisons, shall hold the charge of the post of DGP in addition to his own duties till a regular arrangement is made.

In a separate order, the general administration department posted Vaid as transport commissioner with headquarters at Jammu. The post of transport commissioner has been declared equivalent to the status and responsibility of the post of DGP, it said.
