The third militant engaged in a gunfight with the armed forces since early today in Katriyal forests of Jammu has been killed, taking the death toll to three. General Officer Commanding (GOC), Uniform Force Major General Arvind Bhatia confirmed the killing of three militants.

One more militant was killed in an ongoing gunfight between militants and armed forces after the second day of a massive search operation was launched in Jajjar Kotli area along Jammu and Kashmir highway.

Earlier, a militant was killed and eight armed forces personnel, including an officer were wounded in an ongoing gunfight in Jhajjar Kotli forests of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma, two policemen and five CRPF personnel were wounded, Greater Kashmir reported.
“A militant was killed. SDPO Nagrota and some jawans of the CRPF injured. Encounter going on,” police said on Twitter.
Earlier, armed forces and militants were involved in a gunfight which broke out on Thursday after forces established contact with the suspects who had escaped earlier in the nearby woods.
After a massive search operation had been launched by forces jointly, exchange of fire broke out.
“The firing is going on from the both sides,” a police official said.
Earlier, restrictions were imposed on the flow of traffic along Nagrota-Jhajjar Kotli stretch of the highway.
All educational institutions within the Tikri Zone were shut on Thursday as a precautionary measure.
Earlier, a CRPF man was injured after suspected militants travelling on a truck fired at a CRPF naka party in Jajjar Kotli area along the Srinagar-Jammu highway on Wednesday. The injured man, identified as Domesh Dass, has been shifted to a hospital for treatment.A police spokesman stated that an AK-47 rifle and three magazines were recovered from the truck. Both the truck driver and the conductor have been taken into custody.
“One AK & 3 magazines recovered from the intercepted truck. Dvr,conductor taken into custody. 2-3 suspected militants who ran away from the truck are being chased.police army and Crpf activated.Cordon &search operation is on ahead of suketar v near Katra crossing National Highway,” police said in a statement via Twitter.
