A Border Security Force (BSF) constable, identified as Achutanand Mishra has been arrested on charges of spying for the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan, reported The Hindu.

The Uttar Pradesh police has said that Mishra was ‘honey-trapped’ through social media.

U.P. Director General of Police O.P. Singh said that Mishra confessed to sharing confidential information regarding military establishments to a woman who claimed to be a “defence reporter” from Pakistan. The two were in touch since January 2016.

On the basis of information shared by the military intelligence, UP’s Anti-Terrorism Squad arrested the BSF trooper from Noida. Following this, the ATS said its counter-espionage team found several Facebook profiles that were in touch with such fake profiles.

In February, Indian Air Force’s Counter Intelligence Wing detained a senior Air Force official for allegedly leaking classified information to a woman among others.

In the same month, a Lieutenant Colonel of the Indian Army was arrested by the intelligence agencies in Madhya Pradesh on charges of leaking classified information and documents of the army to Pakistan.

According to the report, the residence of the Lieutenant Colonel posted at a base headquarters in Jabalpur was raided by Army’s counter intelligence(CI) and Military intelligence(MI).
