NC, PDP must join hands, form govt and fight for Article 35-A in Supreme Court: JKCSCC

Srinagar: Asking regional parties including National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to form the government in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Coordination Committee (JKCSCC) on Wednesday appealed the candidates who have submitted their nominations for the upcoming Municipal polls to withdraw their forms.

While addressing a press conference at the Awami National Conference (ANC) senior vice President, Muzafar Shah’s residence, the JKCSCC appealed NC and PDP to join hands and form the new dispensation in the state to fight for the protection of Article 35-A and 370 in the top court of India.

The JKCSCC members said that there was need to form the new dispensation in Jammu and Kashmir for the protection of rights of people here. “Both the parties must stand for the protection of rights of people and should join hands to fight against the ill designs in the Supreme Court jointly,” they said.

Shah while talking to media persons urged the candidates who have filed their papers for the upcoming polls to withdraw their forms to respect the sentiments and rights of people. “We should focus on the safeguarding the rights of people and for that purpose this time we should go for the complete poll boycott,” he said.

He said that people of Kashmir should boycott those who are taking part in the elections as participating in the polls at this time of juncture is nothing but strengthening the hands of BJP and RSS.

Appealing the government employees to stay away from election duties, Shah said that the government employees keeping in view the attack on Article 35-A and 370 and should stay away from election duties.

Shah said that the state administration has announced package and additional one month salary to government employees, which is nothing but greed, which he believes that people of Kashmir will not accept. “The consciousness of Kashmiris won’t steep down by such kind of packages and announcements. People of Kashmir are united to fight for the protection of their state subject law and special status,” he said.

He also appealed the government employees to go for a mass casual leave on the Election Day to respect the sentiments of people. “All the package and additional salary to the government employees should have been utilized on the employees working in different department whose salaries are not being released from last several months,” he said, adding that the funds must be utilized for the welfare of government employees rather than elections.

Besides Shah, all the members of JKCSCC including Jagmohan Singh Raina, Advocate Mir Javaid and others echoed similar views and said that peace should be given a chance.

The JKCSCC members further added that a round table conference will be held soon in which the mainstream parties, Civil Societies, Bar Association, trade bodies, NGOs and others will be invited to discuss the protection of Article 35-A unitedly.
