Mannan Wani killing: No class work at KU; Schools, colleges to remain shut in Bandipora

Srinagar: The class work at the main campuses of the University of Kashmir shall remain suspended on Friday, the authorities have said.

The decision has been taken in wake of the militant killings, which included Hizb commander Mannan Wani, in a gunfight with the armed forces in Shatgund village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

“This is for the information of all the concerned that due to the prevailing conditions in the valley, the class work for October 12 in main campus and satellite campuses shall remain suspended,” read a notice issued by deputy registrar, academic affairs of the varsity.

Meanwhile, the District Magistrate Bandipora has said that all schools and colleges of the district will remain shut on Friday.

“All Govt Educational instituitions including Degree Colleges, Private Schools /Colleges in territorial jurisdiction of District Bandipora shall remain closed on 12th Of Oct 2018.”

Scholar turned militant, Manan wani of Tikipora Sogam, and his associate Ashiq Hussain Zargar of Tulwari Langate were killed in a gunfight in Shatgund on Thursday.

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has already called for shutdown on Friday in protest over the killing of Wani.
